Uppsala Stadsteater

Uppsala Stadsteater is Swedens third largest City theatre, and a centrepoint in the cultural life of Uppsala. The theatre, which has been located in the same building since 1951, has a permanent ensemble where many well known names have taken part over the years. The building near Uppsala Central Station by architect Gunnar Leche, from the beginning also housed Uppsala People´s Centre. Over time the building has been changed in many refurbishments, the latest and most thorough in 1985.
Studio Feuer is now working step by step to lift the public spaces of the theatre, in close collaboration with Theatre CEO/ Artistic Director Petra Brylander and Tyréns, who are responsible for the Light design.

The Upper Foyer – ongoing work
We are re-doing the ceiling, updating clumsy installation solutions and restoring the (presumed) original turquoise ceiling colour. Over the marble staircase, we are bringing back the original, hand-blown glass chandeliers that originally hung in the auditorium ceiling.
The ambiance we are aiming at is dignified but yet playful, and a bit more festive than before.

When the Covid restrictions finally are lifted, the Uppsala theatre audience will be welcome back to their “new” City Theatre.
